Message to Teachers

For the past several years, EduTravel has been leading the charge in providing and facilitating SHSM experiences for Ontario high school students.

We’ve partnered with many organizations including the Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC and Mirvish Productions to give students a wide perspective of career options in a variety of fields. Our experiential learning events quite often included the completion of an elective sector-recognized certification.

With the new Government guidelines for health and safety, our team at EduTravel is facilitating SHSM certificate requirements in a virtual setting.

Through the mix of our online educational materials and the virtual certificate facilitator, students will receive quality sector relevant instruction in a safe and comfortable virtual environment.

Circumstances have forced us to be creative and adapt. Our team at EduTravel knows that does not mean we can sacrifice students’ progression in their secondary education.

Our Certifications

Customer Service

No matter what career focus a student chooses, he or she will always need to have strong professional and diplomatic skills while dealing with customers as well as co-workers/colleagues. Students will learn the basics to what makes a high level of customer service and how these skills will pay large dividends in student’s post-secondary/career development.

Ethical Considerations

Through exploring various critical thinking exercises, students learn how to navigate decision making and how to weigh the positives and negatives to everyday decisions.

Leadership Skills

Students learn the principles behind what it means to be a leader as well as different pathways to strengthen leadership ability and practice.

Project Management

Whether you’re in charge of a team, or simply working on individual tasks at home, being able to manage and administer projects is vital for success into post-secondary education and future career goals. Students will complete their very own project during the completion of this SHSM certificate.

Public Speaking

In the professional world, there is perhaps no better tool to have at one’s side than the ability to command an audience. Students will take part in first hand tasks and exercises to enhance their public speaking ability.

CPR & AED Awareness in Partnership with Recert and Rescue

Through an online setting, students will learn the foundations needed in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) skills.

Fire Safety and Prevention in Partnership with Recert and Rescue

We all know the colossal damage accumulated every year due to preventable fire disasters. Students learn safety skills required to live a safer and more conscious day-to-day life, with the Fire Safety and Prevention online Certification.

Infection Control in Partnership with Recert and Rescue

Now more than ever, we know the importance we all have as a global community in keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe from preventing the transmission of organisms – such as bacteria, viruses. Students will learn the basics of precautionary practices utilized in safe infection control.

How does it work?

Each certification is $25 / per student

A certification takes about 3 hours for students to complete. The work submitted for each activity will be saved to our online platform, meaning students are able to complete the certification in more than one sitting.

  • There are two ways to get students registered for their certifications through our online platform:

  1. Teachers/staff provide us with each student’s name and email. Login information will be sent directly to students. 

OR

  1. EduTravel will set up the correct number of accounts and use a code system rather than obtaining student’s information (i.e. name and email). We send the login information to the SHSM teacher and he/she sends this off to each student.

The second option is a little more work for the teacher, but we understand privacy issues exist for students’ personal information (i.e. name and email).

Our certifications are completed asynchronously. All of our certifications have an attached video series that serves as a virtual facilitator. This virtual facilitator walks students through the activities they must complete in order to obtain their certification.

EduTravel staff monitor the completion of all the assignments attached to their respective certification. If it is the teacher’s preference, we are also able to set up an admin account that would allow teachers to monitor students’ progress.

Once a student completes all of their activities, a digital copy of their certification will be sent to their teacher. A copy can also be sent to the student if this is the teacher’s preference.
